| Ok. Now were out. Would you mind telling me what youve been doing all day? I asked, getting into the Jeep. Alright, alright. He sighed. Wewewere famous. Youre what? Angel, were performers. Performers? As in dancers and singers? He nodded. Why didnt you tell me? I wanted you to know ME, not what the media tells you, he explained. Why didnt you just say you were famous? I wouldnt have cared. Youre a really sweet guy. I dont care what they say about you. Ok, so maybe I would be a little excited and all, but still I think youre a great guy. Really? I smiled. Yeah. He hugged me. Thank god. I was getting sick of trying to hide it from you. I was thinking something was going on. You were so jumpy. No I wasnt. So what group are you guys? I asked, changing the subject. *N Sync. *N Sync? Ever since when? About 6 years ago. Wow. I gotta get out more often. He laughed. Ill give you a copy of our CDs. As in plural? Yeah. Weve got about 5-6 different ones total, but mainly 3. Wow. You guys must be good. Id think so. Sing something for me. He smiled, hummed the tune slightly, then started to sing. Can this be true? Tel me can this be real? How can I put into words what I feel? My life was complete I thought I was whole Why do I feel like Im losing control? Never thought that love could feel like this How you changed my world in just one kiss How can it be youre right here with me? Its an angel Now a miracle Your love is like a river, Peaceful and deep Your soul is like a secret that I never could keep When I look into your eyes I know that its true God mustve spent A little more time on you In all of creation All things great and small You are the one that surpasses them all More precious than any diamond or pearl They broke the mold when you came in this world And Im tryin hard to figure out Just how I ever did without The warmth of your smile The heart of a child As deep inside keeps me purified Your love is like a river Peaceful and deep Your soul is like a secret that I never could keep When I look into your eyes I know that its true God mustve spent a little more time on you On you, on you, on you, you On you, on you, on you, you On you, on you, on you, you On you, on you, on you, you Never thought that love could feel like this How you changed my world in just one kiss How can it be youre right here with me? Its an angel Now a miracle You love is like a river Peaceful and deep You soul is like a secret that I never could keep When I look into your eyes I know that its true God mustve spent a little more time on you God mustve spent a little more time On you Oh my god that was so good Joshy! I squealed. His voice was so unique and so almost magical. He put feeling into every word-even when he was driving. Not to mention the words were so sweet. He smiled. Thanks. I dont usually sing the first verse though. That song is so perfect, I continued. Its one of my favorites. I can tell youre a great performer. I guess I am. We finally turned down my block and turned into my driveway-where my red BMW was. Howd it get here? I asked, getting out of the Jeep. I had Lonnie pick it up. Whos Lonnie? One of our security guards. Oh. I took out my key and opened the door. I took off my shoes and walked into the kitchen and saw my message light flashing. Sighing, I pressed the button. Message 1. Saturday, 4:56 PM. God Crystal where the heck are you? And whyd you turn your cell off? Message 2. Saturday, 5:15 PM. Yo Crys. Its Keith. Later k? Message 3. Saturday, 5:29 PM. Hey Crystal this is Lydia. Just wanted to let you know that you might have to work overtime tomorrow. Call if you have any problems. I pressed delete. Whos Keith? Josh asked. Another friend. You have a lot of friends. You probably have a lot too. Maybe. Gosh what time is it? I asked. Its 7:48. Wanna get some dinner? he asked. Sure. Im starving! I sighed. Great, me too. So what are you up for? he asked. I looked at him. He smiled. Thought so. Cmon. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ I remembered to turn on my cell during dinner. So what are you ordering? he asked me, still looking up and down the menu. Maybe the chicken chow mein. Or the noodle soup. Or how about the steamed fish? I listed. He laughed. We can have it all. No. I think Ill have the noodle soup and the egg rolls. Cool. Im getting the fried rice and the chicken. So are you ready to order? asked an Asian waiter with a heavy accent. Ah yeah. Well have some chicken chow mien, fried rice, fried chicken, and noodle soup, Josh ordered. Alright. Anything to drink? he asked. UmCrystal? Ill have a root beer. Alright. One root beer, one Coke. The waiter smiled and took our menus. Ring! I looked down at my phone. It wasnt the one ringing. Hello? Josh greeted. I smiled at his metallic blue Nokia phone. Hey J Im with Crys right now No Justin. Shes fine. Ill see you tomorrow. What? I asked curiously. Justin wanted to know if you were ok. What? Exactly. Ok. RING I grabbed my phone. Hello? Finally! Where the hell have you been? she asked. With Josh. Didnt I tell you that I was meeting him today? Josh looked at me. Yeah. Of course I have. I just wanted to know what hes like. Oh. Well, hes the sweetest guy youll ever know. Joshs face looked surprised. Lucky you. I wish I could meet him! she exclaimed. Hang on a sec. Kay. I held the speaker against my shirt. Josh? Yeah? Do you wanna meet Gen? Maybe. How about tomorrow or something? Thatll work. I put the phone against my ear. You can. Just not today. Oh cool. But Crys I gotta go. My boss is gonna kill me if he found out I was talking to you. Alright. Bye. What was that all about? Josh asked. Gen just wanted to know if you were the person I said you were. What kind of person did you say I was? he asked, with a hint of amusement in his voice. You were a sweet, kind, intelligent, funny guy, I summarized. He beamed. Good. And what kind of person did you say I was? I returned. That you were a generous, down-to-earth, kind, interesting woman. Thanks. The waiter returned with our drinks. Thanks. Welcome. I was thinking Josh started. Thinking what? About how you want to sing. Oh please stop. I dont need to hear about it. No wait. I was wondering if you could sing something for me. Sing? Now? I looked around the crowded restaurant. No, of course not! I meant like when we get back to your place. Oh. Maybe I guess. Great. |
