After stopping at the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce to pick up some pamphlets for silvestre, we went to climb Blue Mountain (the mountain).
The trail. This trail was much rockier than Baldface. At the top we were essentially climbing giant boulders, but even on the bottom the trail is covered with large stones. In addition to being longer than Baldy (2 miles to Baldy's .8), the trail is much steeper (1560 ft up), especially the top third or so. It was a good hike.
So good, in fact, that at one point early on the way down, i decided to slip and fall and strain/twist my ankle. It was ok, though, because as long as i kept moving, my ankle didn't stiffen up. Rod likes to pretty much run up the trail and then back down it while i prefer taking time to look at the woods and stoof. The rush rush is why we were able to do this trail in 3.5 hrs as opposed to the 5 specified in the pamphlet.
We found more potential food along the way.
And lo they came upon a tree growing straight out of a rock.
An even bigger rock, an even bigger tree For what it is worth, in the first shot i was doing my "Monty Python dumb cockney guy" impression but i stopped before the picture was taken. That's why i'm standing there like a zombie.
Priscilla Lags Behind It may not be obvious in these pictures, but the trail was very steep at this point (though it got even steeper). The fact that the path is actually solid stone made it hard on the feet and hard to get traction. But none of that excuses the fact that priscilla is a weenie.
This is a gross misrepresentation of the truth. C'mon. Who are you going to believe? Him or me?
I actually didn't enjoy this trail all that much. The giant boulders all over the path were really hard on the feet. I much prefer a path covered in dirt and leaves and such as opposed to huge rocks. Plus, i fell.
Blue Mountain (the lake). The top of Blue Mountain (the mountain) is not as free of trees as the top of Baldface (Baldface is unusual in its lack of trees at the summit, hence the name), but we were still able to see a nice view of Blue Mountain Lake.
