Meet The Team
We have a very large pool of outstanding athletes to choose from. On this page I will be introducing you to the various team members and detailing the progress of everyone from the puppy team on up to the main string.

WHAT'S NEW:

Comet, an aging leader who produced a wonderful litter of puppies for us, has gone to a new home. She will be leading a recreational team in Colorado. Joining her will be Quantum, a nice young leader that we had been using as a puppy trainer.

Stay tuned as I will be posting whenever there is any change in the status of any of the dogs on this page. Meanwhile, you can see pictures of each and every one of our dogs by going to the link to Our Dogs at the left and browsing through all the groupings on that page.

JANET'S MAIN STRING:
These are the best of the best from our kennel and are all adults between two and nine years of age. They are listed from oldest to youngest.

GHOST - My main leader for the past six years. He made the main race team this year but struggled during the race.  He will be retired to training the young dogs after this.
FRESCA - A super tough and energetic leader. She is a bit slower than the other dogs but makes up for it with effort and reliability. She has led the team in every race in the last five years.
LUNA - My best gee-haw leader. She is tough and resilient and eager to please. She struggled with the speed this year and will be retired to training the young dogs after this.
SWITCH - A great little dog who is starting to come into her own as a leader. She is the fastest dog on the team.
BREAKER - An excellent little leader who likes to lope. She is best friends with Switch.
CHARGE - This might well be the best dog we own. He is large, powerful, fast, and is showing some potential as a leader. He never seems to get tired and has never been injured.
CURRENT - This girl is one of my best buddies. She has always shown potential as a leader, but she seems to lack confidence. She really came through in the races this year, though, and achieved main leader status.
PHASE - This smooth running fellow has been leading in races since he was a yearling.
GRAVITY - This big boy has never quite fulfilled his potential as a leader, but he is a fast and durable dog in the team. He is a very sweet and friendly dog who gets along with everyone.
ABBA - This girl has not seen much intensive training yet. She has tremendous speed and athletic ability and appears to have the willingness to be a leader.  She got pregnant and had to be dropped out of training this year.
COCONUT - An eager, fast, hard worker who has natural talent as a leader. He is always enthusiastic about everything he does.
WALNUT - A super fast, natural leader. She does not like to go slow and will let her teammates know about it.
RAISIN - This girl has potential as a leader but needs more training. She is fast and smooth and powerful.
ALMOND - Best friends with Raisin, this girl is a natural leader with plenty of speed.

MIKE'S MAIN STRING:
These are the experienced dogs, also known as the B team, for whom there was no room left on Janet's team. They generally get to run at a slightly slower pace, so there may be some trading between Janet's and Mike's teams depending on the needs and talents of the individual dogs.

LUNA - The best gee-haw leader. She is tough and resilient and eager to please. She struggled with the speed in the main team this year and will be retired to training the young dogs or running a slightly slower pace with Mike's team.
AMTRAK - This boy is one of our best dogs. He is fast and smooth and a good training leader. He has always run on Janets team, but Mike needs some hard pulling dogs who will run for anyone, so Amtrak gets the job of running for him.
OLIVE - A super talented Siberian leader. She gets the job of teaching the ropes to the young leaders.
DALLAS - A very fast Siberian leader. She came to us from a sprint racer and has not yet been tested at the longer distances.
VOLTAGE - This powerhouse male is a natural leader. He sometimes gets a little sore in the shoulder, but it never keeps him out of training. He was an alternate for Janet's team this year but was not needed.
CIRCUIT - A very smooth running leader. She sets a slightly slower pace than some of our other leaders even though she is quite capable of going faster.
QUASAR - A very playful boy with lots of attitude and endurance. He is a fast leader who will run for anyone.
REDSHIFT - This fast, hard pulling girl has been plagued with a stiffness in her shoulder that we have never been able to diagnose. Every year it causes her to be bumped down to the B team. She is a sweet and willing leader.
SPACETIME - This fast little girl has never quite fulfilled her potential. She pulls best in the wheel position but also has promise as a leader. She is best friends with Redshift.
NEUTRINO - This boy is a perpetual adolescent. We like to run him at wheel where he cant get into too much trouble.

THE YOUNG DOGS:
These are the dogs who have not raced yet but are now old enough for a serious shot at making our racing teams. It is now up to us to find out how much potential they have. Some of them may well bump the more experienced dogs off the main string as the year goes on.

RAIN - This big beautiful boy is one of Mikes favorites. He is very strong and agile though just a touch slower than his littermates. So far he shows no inclination to lead although he is an eager worker in the team.
HAIL - This tall boy is one of the fastest males. He has the speed and the attitude to make the move to the main string this year.
THUNDER - A very sweet male, he matches his brother Hail in speed and attitude.
LIGHTNING - An outstanding female with strong leader potential. She trained with the main string last season.
SLEET - Another outstanding female with leader potential. She also trained with the main string last season.
SNOWY - This girl has been a challenge to train as she seemed to think running involved intimidating her teammates so she could get ahead of them. She has learned now the proper way to work as a team, or perhaps she merely outgrew her childish ways.
WINDY - This girl took longer than usual to learn how to pull because she wanted so badly to be at my side. She was given lots of extra runs and is now one of the best workers.
FOGGY - Another girl who needed more work and is now one of the better pullers. She is incredibly sweet and gets along with everyone.
HYDROGEN - A very talented female with a bit of Pointer in her. She appears to be a natural leader and is very eager to please.
HELIUM - This large, powerful boy has a very smooth gait and a hard driving attitude. He has the speed to make the move up to the main string.
LITHIUM - This cute little female has plagued me with her line chewing. She is a good little worker in the team, though.
BERYLLIUM - This nice sized female is a very smooth running, hard worker.
BORON - This smaller boy has taken the longest to figure out how to run and pull in the team.
CINNAMON - This girl is a standout and a natural leader. Although she is small, slender, and feminine, she is tremendously fast and focused as well as graceful.
NUTMEG - I have a good feeling about this boy. He has been running well and pulling hard.
CLOVES - This sweet little female took a while to learn about team work. She is a busybody and wants to see what is going on behind her. She is pulling hard and running well now.
ALLSPICE - This girl has been pulling really well in the team even though she is much slower than her littermates when free running.

THE PUPPY TEAM:
These are the puppies who were too young for serious race training. Next year, some of them will move up to the race teams. Also included on this team are several experienced leaders to help keep the puppies in line and moving in the right direction. As the season progresses, any dogs that get bumped off the main string will join the puppy team for more casual training and fun runs.

BUCKY - This 10 year old Siberian Husky is one of our most solid leaders. He always shows enthusiasm and will pull the young dogs past any distraction.
RICKY - This is Buckys brother, and he is also an excellent leader. We have used him to train a number of our younger leaders.
GHOST - My main leader for the past six years. He made the main race team last year but struggled during the race, so he has been retired to training the young dogs.
TITANIC - A marvelous leader who had to be retired due to a defect in his shoulders in which he has cartilage where there should be bone. He still wants to run, though, so when he is pain-free, we allow him to lead the puppies. However, if he shows any sign of a limp or holding back, then he has to stay behind.
BLACKBERRY - This young boy is a bit slower than his littermates and has a rougher gait, but he tries very hard and never quits.
STRAWBERRY - This boy has a beautiful fast gait. We expect great things from him.
RASPBERRY - A super fast boy who has the potential to be a superstar.
HUCKLEBERRY -  This little girl has a smooth, powerful gait which looks the most like her Moms. This bodes well for her future.
BLUEBERRY - This loveable little girl is quite a character. She is running extremely well so far and is a natural leader. Her smooth, well-muscled body reminds me of her mother, who was a true superstar.
MEADOWLARK - This little girl has boundless energy and is a natural leader.
SOX - This neat little female has a well-muscled body and is an eager learner.
CINDER - A furry, friendly girl who loves to run.
SOOT - A littermate to Cinder with excellent speed and a smooth gait.
