What exactly Bill Murray was thinking when he agreed to do this bomb of all bombs is beyond me. I'd rather watch Meatballs to this thing anytime.
This film could have been very good, based as it is on Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. The writing and characters however just aren't up to snuff. In the hands of a great teen film director like Amy Heckerling or John Hughes however, this film could have worked. Check out Heckerling's Clueless to see how to do it right.
Gads, maybe John Candy's premature death was a blessing. Crumb is just pathetic. Poor Candy tries so hard to get a laugh but the script and the jokes are so lame it's just too painful to watch.
Okay, this is it. Hollywood has officially run out of ideas...but wait, how about, Ziggy, the motion picture?
Am I the only one who was thoroughly bored (and confused) by this over-rated and preachy flick? Can someone explain to me why I spent $8.50 on a movie in which nothing happens?
Traffic has at its heart an extremely racist warning aimed at us nice middle-class white folk--be vigilant or our virginal daughters will be wooed and victimized by greasy Mexican drug dealers and black pimps. The message at the end of the film is also distressing--we are urged to ignore the outside world which gave us these problems in favour of an insular approach aimed at saving our family at the expense of everyone else.
Steven Soderbergh certainly is the flavour of the month in Hollywood at the moment. Frankly, I think he rates right up there with neopolitan.
