Happy Holiday Cards
I knew I was going to be making a whole bunch of Christmas cards, so while I was at the workshop, I decided to do some shopping.  I mostly bought a few stamps and a colored marker set.  Those markers are what really helped create this card since I only used two stamps.  I just colored different parts of the stamps and used them over and over again.  The tricky part was trying to work out the placing of each tree as well as the coloring.  I thought it turned out all right in the end.
I also forgot to mention that I had bought a stencil with a polka-dot pattern, which I thought would do great if I ever wanted to make snow.  Well, I finally got my chance.  If you didn't notice, the stamp I used for this card was the same stamp I used for the card pictured above.  What I did for this one was instead of using the markers directly on the stamp, I used black ink to stamp the design, embossed it and then used water colors.  I really like this card, because it is simple and doesn't have any words on it, yet it still can convey "Merry Christmas".
This design took me a while to figure out.  I was debating in my head on whether to make the ornaments stand out or the words.  In the end, I did a little compromise, which turned out really well.  I had used a clear embossing powder for the "Merry Christmas", because I knew that embossing would make the words seem darker on a dark background.  I did make a little mistake though on the left of the card... I had held the heater over the powder too long, which made it burn and turn opaque instead of being transparent.  So, just to show you what would happen. So far, I know that for embossing, you can't hold the heater too long over the powder and you can't pull it away real fast, because it won't melt together and will just stay in big clumps on the card.
