Yet another one of my friends here is going to have a birthday on Dec. 2 and this is the card I made for her.  This was more of a last minute kind of thing (took only about 2-3 hours), so it's smaller than my previous cards.  Since I made this the night before her birthday, I didn't have time to elaborate more than I could (started around midnight and finished around 2:30ish AM...).  The inspiration of the girl/manequine was the bunch of flowers on her head.  Those flowers are actually a set with the "for you" thing at the bottom of the card.  They're ready to use stickers that I bought from Jean Co.  When I put the flowers on the figure's head, I immediately thought of the 1960's.  You know, those swimming caps with rubber flowers all over them...  So that led to the style of her dress.  The dress was the hard part, because I couldn't get an exact mental picture of what I wanted the shape to be like.  Once I got the dress down, everything just fell into place.
This was a rather quick job.  It took me a little under an hour to finish this, so it's not as fancy as most of my cards.  However, this is not a card.  It's a bookmark.  It was made on a last minute decision, because I had forgotten that one of my friends here would rather like something handmade than store bought.   I didn't think of this when I had already finished writing her Christmas card, and when it had came to mind, I had already told her that I had a card for her.  Since we were going to meet up the next day, I didn't have much time to make up something elaborate.  So, since I know she likes to read, I went ahead and made this.   I like how the flower turned out, but I'm not really happy with the text... As usual, my penmanship fails me.  So, no matter how pretty you make the font, poor handwriting will always ruin it... (that's why I'm in such desperate need for stencils and stamps!) ~_~;;
This would be my second attempt at flowers, and I think that it turned out pretty well.  I originally wanted to make the flower arrangement a bit bigger, but because of how small the card was, I decided to simplify it down to only a few variety of flowers instead.  I had a slight problem with trying to figure out what kind of shape I wanted the vase to be.  I did some researching and found a very nice "fish bowl" like vase similar to the one on the card.  The only thing that I am pretty dissapointed with would be the "Thank You!" at the bottom.  I tried using my embossing kit to make it extra special, but I didn't think that the paper wasn't suitable for the embossing powder.  It didn't come out as neat as I'd expected.  ~_~;;  Oh well, we all learn through our mistakes.
