| Bettas: Bettas are in perfect health and conditioned before being put on Aquabid or the sale page of this web site. Two days prior to shipping the bettas are not feed to reduce waste while the betta is being shipped. It is to prevent the water from getting nasty and harming the betta. The betta is double bagged with about an inch and a half of water with the rest of the bag filled with air. The bag will be placed in an insulated box filled with packaging peanuts or newspaper to keep the bag from moving around within the box. If the temperature is very cold a heat pack will be placed in the box for a small charge. In the case that the temperature in your area seems to extreme to me I will not ship with or without heat pack. In the dead of summer, if the temperatures are too high even for a cold pack, I will not ship. I ship by USPS Priority 2 day (at your own risk) and Overnight Express with live arrival guarantee. Shipping is most definitely at your own risk. I do everything I can to make sure your bettas ship as safely as possible. However, stuff happens. After I leave them at the USPO things are out of my control. I will do my best to help you out if something happens but, depending on the situation, I may not be able to do much. I currently ship all year round, Mondays thru Wednesday only. I will not ship any later to avoid the package getting 'stuck' somewhere over the weekend. Arrival is one to two days. Even Express shipping can take two days depending on your area. You must be there to sign for the package. If you are not there I am not responsible for any resulting damage. I guarantee live arrival with overnight Express shipping only. In case of DOA you must return the box with the DOA in the UNOPENED bag to get a refund for the price of that DOA. I can not refund shipping charges. I will not refund price of bettas you recieved alive with the shipment. You can not return them with the DOA. So if say, the female died you can not return the male because you don't want him anymore. Well, you can, but I can't refund the money you paid for him. If DOA occured duing 2 day shipping, and the package arrived on time, you are out of luck. At your own risk means 'at your own risk.' You will recieve no refund. If your shipment happened to arrive late you can make a claim with the USPS to get the shipping charges back. I am happy to replace DOAs if I have anything available if you pay for shipping, but I can not give you a refund. Live guarantee only applies to packages that arrive on time and were shipped Express. I do what I can to help buyers out when things go wrong, but I can NOT take on all resposibility for everything that happens. Things VERY rarely go wrong, however, so don't worry too much. Please do not expect betta to pop out of the bag looking like a photograph. Shipping is stressful and the betta will look weak and be dull in color when it first arrives. It may not eat, swim around, or flair for hours to a day or two until it is settled in. It is also common for bettas to receive damage to their fins while being shipped. It's dark and scary in that box and bettas often freak out and dart all over the bag, which may tear fins. Your betta will perk up, color up, and act normally as soon as it feels at home and gets over the stress it suffered. Torn fins will heal. Photos do not always accurately depict a bettas size, color, or amount of wash it may have. *A bettas size can be off in photos. Sometimes the betta you get will look smaller than the photo. This I have found to be common. It probably depends on the angle of the photo and/or various other factors such as lighting. *Lighting, angle, and many other things can effect the color of a betta in a photo. If the photo was taken with a flash then the betta will have a brighter more iridescent look. In different lighting the betta will not look the same. Without flash the betta will be a darker or duller color. It also won't have the shiny 'effect'. A bettas color will be different in daylight, lamp light, florescent light, or any other type of lighting. So there really is no way for a photo to be able to depict a bettas true color. *If you were not told you are buying a 'clean' betta (meaning solid in color without any red, blue, gray, or black wash) then don't expect to get a clean color. Photos don't always show just how much wash a betta may have. I explain as much as I can what the betta looks like but I can't tell you every single detail of the betta without writing a novel. If I say there is one tiny speck of wash, the betta will have one tiny speck of wash. If I say the betta has wash, then the betta has some wash. If the betta is covered in wash, I will say so. But just because your betta had only a little wash visible in the photo, doesn't mean it doesn't have more that just didn't show up. Once you receive the betta it is up to you to know how to care for it. There are no refunds for bettas that become ill after arrival. I am not responsible for owners who didn't do their homework before deciding to care for a betta. This web site has all the information you need in order to care for your betta. Careful when opening the box so as not to damage it. If possible, I ask that you return the box so that I may reuse them over and over. SHIPPING RATES: Priority Mail (summer months only) = $12 per two bettas, $1 per extra betta. Overnight Express (used year round) = $20 per two bettas, $2 per extra betta No other shipping options are available at this time. |
