General Plan We are planning a few activities for Saturday morning before the wedding, so feel free to arrive a little early to enjoy wine country and maybe a trip to the beach. We will also be organizing brunch and some wine tasting tours on Sunday for those who can stay. We hope you will be able to take advantage of the long weekend and join us for some of the extra fun. Travel For those who are not familiar with Santa Rosa, it is located about 60 miles North of San Francisco (the best airport to fly in to) on Highway 101. The winery is about 2 miles north of down town. You can also fly in to Oakland if the rates are better. There is pretty good bus service from the San Francisco and Oakland Airports, but you will need a car to get around town and out to the winery. Airfare is pretty cheap right now, but will probably get more expensive as the date gets closer. Don’t wait too long. Places to Stay We have lined up some rooms at some motels near the winery. We recommend making reservations relatively soon as that weekend is Memorial Day and graduation weekend for a number of the local schools. For decent cost and location, we recommend the Sandman Motel, (707) 544-8570. It is about a 5 minute drive from the winery. The rate should be $77 per night. We have booked a block of rooms here, and so if you mention Christy Leavitt before 4/24, you should be guaranteed this rate. There are only a few available though so we can’t promise availability. It is first come, first served. As an alternative, we have also reserved some rooms at the Motel 6 just down the road, (707) 525-9010. It is your typical motel and the rate should be $64 per night. You should also mention Christy Leavitt to get the guaranteed rate here. www.motel6.com/motel_detail.asp?MotelId=1362 For those who want to be more extravagant, there is the Santa Rosa Hilton, a very nice hotel that is about 3 minutes away from the winery. It will set you back about $170 per night. 707-523-7555. We didn’t reserve rooms here, so you are on your own in terms of making reservations here.
