The Dandy comic first started on December 4th 1937, with Korky the cat on the front cover, and it stayed that way all the way until 1984 with the exception of issue No 295 where Keyhole Kate made a one-off cover appearance, some of the main characters have stayed the same when it started in 1937 with the likes of Korky the Cat and Desperate Dan still very much around today and the likes of Keyhole Kate and Freddy the Fearless Fly occasionally making cameo appearances, The likes of Winker Watson, Smasher and Cuddles and Dimples (who look like future cover stars) all have been around for a while and together with the others make up the Dandy comic, although inevitibly not everyone survived from the first issue (some didn't even survive after issue No 10) the main characters survived a lot longer than in the Beano, which could be the reason why it is nowhere near as popular as the Beano Comic, the Dandy is also the longest running comic ever as in issue No 3007 it overtook a comic called "comic cuts" (which ran for 3006 issues) to become the longest running comic ever, and long may it continue...
