The Beano comic first appeared in newsagents on the 26th July 1938 (dated 30th July 1938) and when it first came out I don't think anyone could have ever belived what a success is was going to be, before the likes of Dennis the Menace and The Bash Street Kids, there were Big eggo and Tin can tommy as the main characters.
