MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY

I was born into a buddhist family and since young was accustom to the worship of idols. My home had no less then 7 idols at all times and my health was badly affected by the burning of joss sticks and paper offerings.

Life was simple and I did not have a purpose in life and every single day past by emptily. It was tough to grow up as a boy from a single parent family and each day was a struggle. There was no one I could confide in when I faced with any problems. I could only depend on my own strength to overcome the difficulties I faced. Insensitive, immature hurting remarks came from unkind school mates who look down on me as I was poor. To protect myself from getting hurt by these insensitive remarks, I learnt to build up walls around myself to shield myself from them. I was always lonely. I felt being despised by people around me. I felt like a burden to my mum. Love was nowhere to be found. Not even in my family. My family members kept our problems and tears to ourselves as a result we were not close to each other. We seldom speak to one another. We just mind our own business.

The first time I felt happy in life was when I attended a Christmas party at the age of 10. The party was held by a group of Christian volunteers who worshipped at the church. The church was situated near my place and the people at the church were very kind. That’s the first time I felt kindness. We played some games and sang some Christmas songs together and it made me feel comfortable with them. The best part was of course the food which was one of my main purposes to attend the party. Very soon 2 hours of fun passed and before the party ended, all the children at the party received a small gift. I was ecstatic as this was the first time I received any gift. In fact I was a little shy to accept it as I felt I do not deserve such good things. I wondered to myself why these people were so nice to me. What were their motives? We were told also that the gift is from God and before we left, they said a prayer to ask God to bless us. They invited us back for Sunday School and I agreed to join them the following week. From then on, I always look forward to Sunday and attended the Sunday School faithfully every week. Each week I learn more and more about Jesus. I grew to understand about love and giving, of which I never knew existed.

When I was 12, at a meeting organised by my Sunday School I said a prayer to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and Lord. I could sense the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I wanted to know more about Jesus who love me, and who had done so much for me, even 2000 years before I was born. I wanted to experience the wonderful plan God had planned for my life. I wanted to feel more of His great love. However, things did not change over the night but His will was revealed day by day.

During my secondary school days, I attended bible study lesson with Youth For Christ where I got to know more Christian friends. I got to know more from reading and studying the Holy Bible in bible study and discussion group. The real changing point of my life came when I joined Campus Crusade For Christ (CCC) during my tertiary education in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I attended several Leadership Training Camp organised by CCC. From these camp, I was taught to use an evangelistic tool know as The Four Spiritual Law. Now I am ready to share the love of God to people who have yet to know about Him. I have made a difference in the life of a few people in which I shared the wonderful gift of life of Christ using the Four Spiritual Laws booklet. May the Lord our God continue to bless these souls and cause them to grow in love and strength each new day. Till today sharing the love of Christ to my friends is easy. I like to tell them what God have done in my life. I also attended bible study lesson thru CCC and it helped me to develop a personal relationship with God.

God is gentle and He will not give us trials that we are unable to handle. Thru trials in life I began to understand myself better and change my attitude and thoughts the way God had lead me. God is a living God who wants the best for my life. In Him I found love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and self control. God have given me hope in life and I felt secured. I look forward to the day where I can be with Him and see Him face to face. He has taken away all my sins, past, present and future. In Him I do not need to fear. He is in total control of all situations in my life at all times. He is always here to guide me and is always close by my side. I can feel his presence with me all the time. He has given me friends who I can trust and help me along my spiritual path to know him. I am no longer lonely.

The life of Jesus has set an example for us to model after. I learnt to accept everybody as they are and try my best to help them learnt about Jesus and to love Him more each day. Each day is a chance for me to get to know Jesus better and a day to let me learnt lessons so that I could be more like Him. My faith in Jesus is growing each day and I am proud to say I love Jesus more each day. Everyday is a new beginning where I can get to know Him more and trust Him. I am ready to be His instrument for use to reach out to more people. My life mission now is to know and love God more each day and change my ways and thoughts to model after the example of Jesus Christ.

May all who read this testimony be blessed by the unconditional love of God and see the real meaning of our life here on Earth. God Bless.

For God so love the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16.
