Re: Religion and empowerment [re: Ramessu]
Ramessu,
Perhaps you have forgotten your earlier response to Ankhesenamun on April 12,
at 1:04 am, in which you wrote
"Instead
of staying home and watching TV, expand your
knowledge, your intellect and think".
This does not seem to show great respect for Ankhesenamun's intellect. If the
basis for this seemingly low assessment of a fellow poster's
intellectual stature is based on his belief that the gods are actively
involved in our lives, then I would repeat, there are a great many
people recorded in history, each highly intelligent, who I could
mention, who have thought the same. If you thought little of Ankhesenamun
because of this, perhaps you might consider the possibility that your
criticism of him was unduly harsh, and not supported by the facts.
You also stated (and it is still up) "the time of the Neters walking
the earth is over". In other words, the Divine presence has departed
us. Some of us would most strongly disagree with this assertion. Some
of us would even do so, based on personal experience. If your
experiences have lead you to a different conclusion, then you do right
to embrace it. If the gods do walk the earth, then it pleased them to
allow you to have those experiences, and you honor their will by
drawing the rational conclusions which your own experiences would
suggest. But, as I have said, different experiences will suggest
different conclusions, and to criticise another for not being guided
by your personal impressions, as you have criticized Ankhesenamun, is not
appropriate. Ankhesenamun, and others, must draw their own conclusions from
the one thing of which they are certain - the content of their own
perception, of their own life experiences - just the same as you.
Where the slander lies in this observation, I will leave to you to
explain.
