Re: Religion and empowerment [re: Antistoicus]

Em hotep Antistoicus,

I feel impelled to point out that, like Ramessu, you too are a guest here at the House. (1) Disagreeing with someone's viewpoint or knowledge of history, politics, or religion is one thing--taking it to a personal level is quite another. (2) And the policies link at the top of these pages provides guidance on posting netiquette. (3)

Thank you for sharing your own viewpoint. (4)

(1) And yet notice how when Ramessu actually does grow abusive, not a word is heard out of her. She only speaks up when I object to the abuse. At this point, I have begun to realize that the difference between the Neopagan ethic of willful, politically oriented blindness, and that of the House is more mirage than substance.

(2) Do we have that slightly backwards, Khen? The reader will kindly note that the only way in which I have become 'personal' with Ramessu is by defending myself against his personal attacks, not one of which she has objected to; nor did she object to what would, hidden agendas aside, have clearly been Ramessu's personal attack upon Ankhesenamun, and this incredibly offensive remark, just seen, blaming the Jews for their own slaughter by the Nazis.

In other words, the comment is screamingly dishonest. If the reader seeks a motive for this dishonesty, he need look not further than her name - Khen. She is one of Aset's 'children', like Leah, who, as we have pointed out, comes across as being one of Ramessu's partners-in-crime in this snake oil salesman routine she has set up, and which we have discussed at length.

Such is the virtue of straightforwardness, which strikes with deadly accuracy, even in the dark. Even without being aware of the situation, I had placed my words in opposition against exactly those who deserved to be opposed, without even knowing that I had done so at the time. "Well meaning" political calculation could never have done the same.

(3) Though it doesn't provide a guide to any bizarre misinterpretation somebody might dream up for her own purposes.

(4) And thank you for being so openly manipulative. But then, as Leah made clear in the Netjer and Natural Forces thread, Aset worshippers are proud of that, aren't they?
