The population of Xibo nationality is about eighty-four thousand persons, most of them live in Xinjiang, Liaoning and Jilin province. They have their own language and writing language ,they have translated many works of other nationalities into their own writing language.
Xibo used to believe in Shamanism and Lamaism, now most of them don't believe in religions any more, but they still worship their ancestors. The "moving west festival" on lunar April 18th. is to commemorate their ancestors move from east to west.
Most Xibo used to be engaged in fishing and hunting , now some of them are engaged in agriculture.
Archery is Xibo's favorite sport, all the males of Xibo are good at
shooting an arrow. The first gifts for a new baby from their family are bow and
arrow. They have games or shows of archery during Midautumn festival, Spring festival and
Moving west festival ( April 18th. festival).
There are many excellent archery sportsmen and sportswomen are from Xibo, some of them win
gold or silver medals for many times in national games and world games.
