The population of Tu nationality is about one hundred and ninety-two thousand persons, most of them live in Qinghai province. They have their own language and use Han and Tibetan writing language.
Most Tu believe in Lamaism.
Tu used to be engaged in husbandry, especially in raising sheep. Now most Tu are engaged in agriculture , they are also engaged in husbandry at the same time and they are still good at raising sheep. The regions Tu living are abound of vegetables and fruits.
Tu always serve the guests with wine and have their own traditional ceremony for propose toasts to their guests.
The most important festival for Tu is in lunar July, it is called "Anton
festival" or " July meeting", it is for cerebrating harvest.This festival
will last almost two months, it is called " the longest carnival in the world".
