Tibetan Nationality
The population of Tibetan nationality is about 4.6 million persons, most of them live in Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan province. They have their own language , writing language and calendar.
Tibetan nationality is one of the most ancient nationalities of China. Most Tibetan are engaged in animal husbandry. Some of them are engaged in agriculture.
Tibetan living in different regions have different costumes. Males of Tibetan always have their heads shaved .Females always allow their hairs to grow before 15 years old, after 25 , they will plait their hair into many pigtails.
Tibetan nationality has many famous works on Buddhism, literature, history, calendar, medical science, philosophy, astronomy, prosody, etc.
Tibetan love singing and dancing, their folk songs and dances are unique and overflowing with enthusiasm.
Tibetan people believe in Lamaism. There are Buddhism Temples all over Tibet.
Among them, "Budala Gong"(in Lasa ) is the most famous. It is built on the mountain with the unique construction style of Tibet, at the same time , the Tibetan and Han culture are in perfect harmony in it.
Most of festivals of Tibetan are relate to religion, the most famous is the festival for looking at image of Buddha with reverence in Tibetan calendar May. During the festival , monks, priests and Buddhists from all over Tibet dress their holiday best , gather at the gate of Zashilunbu Temple , wait to see the lager image of Buddha which has to be carried by 16 persons.
Tibetan nationality has mystical funeral rites--- the most grand one is buried in the tower( it is only for Dalai Lama ); Living Buddha would have cremation; Children and people die for disease would be water burial , their bodies would be put in water to feed fishes; People who have commit evil would have burial in the ground ( they think people buried in the ground would never have eternity); Other persons would have celestial burial, their bodies are taken to the platform for celestial burial to feed the birds ( they think with this ceremony, they would go to paradise after die).
