The population of Pumi nationality is about thirty thousand persons, most of them live in Yunnan and Sichuan province. They have their own language,but have no writing language , they use Han and Tibetan language. At the same time , most of them can talk in Han , Bai and Naxi language because they live near these nationalities.
Pumi believe in Multi-Gods (Primitive Religion) and worship ancestors, some of them believe in Buddhism and Taoism.
Pumi are hospitable , they would serve the first bowl of wine or the first cup of tea to their guests.
When Pumi turn 13 years old , their parents will hold "the adult ceremony" for them, the ceremony is also called " trousers (skirt) dressing ceremony.
The poetry, tales, folk stories, carving and paints of Pumi are characterized by a distinctive national flavor. All of them are very famous.
Pumi has many festivals every year, like Qingming, Spring festival, Torch festival, horse-running festival, ox-driving festival, mountain-round meeting(zhuanshan meeting)...
