The population of Mulam nationality is about one hundred and fifty-nine thousand persons, most of them live in Guangxi province. They have their own language, most of them know Han and Zhuang language , they use Han writing language.
Most Mulam are engaged in agriculture, some of them are engaged in coal mining and collecting mountain products.
Most Mulam believe in Taoist and a few of them believe in Buddhist.
Mulam get used to respect farm cattle, they celebrate birthday for all the farm cattle on
lunar April 8th.
Mulam has many festival and traditional activities every year, the most important ones are "Yifan festival" and "Zoupo". In March and August, young persons are dressed in their holiday best to the market to find some persons they like and invite them to the food of mountain or lawn to sing in antiphonal style. If they both feel they are the suitable one for each other , they would change gifts as their love tokens , then the young man would ask a matchmaker to talk about a marriage with the young woman's family. So "Zoupo" is the most popular chance for young Mulam to make friends.
