The population of Mongolian nationality is about 4.8 million persons, most of them live in Inner Mongolia Aut.Reg., northeast and northwest of China. They have their own language.
Most Mongolian believe in Lamaism.
Mongolian nationality has a long history and a civilization of long standing. Their science and culture are flourishing. To folk literature and art, they have their own singing style called "Haolibao" and they also have their own special national musical instrument called " Matouqin".
Mongolian enjoy their nomadic life , they almost stay in every part of grasslands in China , that is why they are regarded as "sons of grasslands". They live in Mongolian Hurts which are in white, the white yurts on the green grassland---- what a wonderful scenery!
Mongolian like wine , milk and meat products of horse or sheep.
In August, Mongolian get together to celebrate their good harvest and hold a traditional sports game called "Nadamu" which lasts about five to seven days, they take part in competitions on wrestling, horse racing and archery . They also drink , sing and dance during the activity. It is one of their most magnificent traditional folk activities.
P.S. The lifestyle of Mongolian in Yunnan province is no long the nomadic, the settle down and engage in agriculture .
