Lisu Nationality
The population of Lisu nationality is about five hundred and seventy-five thousand persons, most of them live in Yunnan and Sichuan province. They have their own language and writing language .
Lisu used to believe in Primitive Religion, now some of them believe in Christianity or Catholicism.
The regions Lisu living are bound of fur and other mountain products.
The costume of Lisu is very colorful , the skirts of Lisu female are made of more than one hundred different colors cloth with special design. When Lisu girls are about 13--14 years old, their families will hold a grand ceremony for them which is called "Skirt dressing ceremony". After that, the girls can join all the activities of social intercourse. It means their times of young girl are over.

Lisu enjoy chewing tobacco and drinking. They think cut tobacco are the
best gift to their guests and lovers. When drinking, they would drink in the same bowl
with their guest at the same time, pressing their faces close to the faces of their guests
, no matter males or females. They think it is a normal social etiquette just like our
shaking hands . It is called " close faces drinking" or "drinking with one
heart"(Tongxin Wine).
The national festivals of Lisu are similar to Han, Bai and Naxi's. They celebrate Spring Festival, Torch Festival (in lunar June), Harvest Festival ( in lunar October). During the Spring Festival, all Lisu will go to swim in hot spring, they will live in tents for 3--5 days, they sing, drink, recite poems,etc around the campfire, swim in the hot spring.
There is another festival called "knives festival", it is on lunar Feb.8th. Some Lisu perform "fire dance"( dance on the burning charcoal) and climb up to the top of a stepladder of knives.
