The population of Li nationality is about 1.1 million persons, most of them live in Hainan province. They have their own language, at the same time , most of them know Han language.
In the ancient time, all Li believe in Primitive Religion, now some of them believe in Christianity.
Most Li are engaged in agriculture, some of them are engaged in hunting, fishing, forestry and collection.
Li's technology on weaving has a long history. In Tang ,Song dynasty, their hand-made brocade were very famous.
Most Li live in wooded mountain, the animals on the mountain , in the field or on the
tree are all their foods. Betel is respect by Li as their lucky thing and token of
affection for young couples . Females of Li love chewing betel.
Bamboo pole dance is the most popular traditional sport of Li.
The most important festival for Li is on the lunar March 3th, it is also called "love festival". It is a good chance for young people to find their love during the sport activities and dance .
