The population of Kirgiz nationality is about one hundred and forty-one thousand persons, most of them live in Xinjiang province. They have their own language and writing language , at the same time , most of them know Uygur language.
Kirgiz believe in Islam, a few of them believe in Lamaism or Shamanism.
Most Kirgiz are nomads, they are engaged in agriculture at the same time. Their traditional technology like embroider, artistic carving, gold and silver handicrafts ,etc. are very special and with their own national character.
Kirgiz live in yurt , they use their famous national handicraft---tapestry to decorate their yurt. All the females of Kirgiz are good at making tapestry.
Kirgiz's folk music is flourishing, all the Kirgiz are with excellent talent on music. They also have more than seven kind of stringed instruments to perform their folk songs . On the other hand , their cultural heritage on folk tales , stories and poetry are very rich.
