The population of Hani nationality is about 1.25 million persons, most of them live in Yunnan province. They have their own language.
Hani are engaged in agriculture. Though most of them live in the mountain area , the wise Hani people are good at terraced fields. You must admire what they did on the mountains when you face the endless high terraced field mountains ( most of them up to one hundred stages.)
Hani believe in nature worshiping , ancestors worshiping and believe in Multi-Gods. They have abundant oral literature. Every Hani like to take musical instrument with them any time.
The Hani's new year is in the lunar Oct. , they also have one festival in lunar June which is called "Kuzaza". Most Hani are good at their traditional folk dance---Bamboo dance (Zutong Wu).
The ancient Hani lived in the caves on the mountain, today's Hani live in houses look like mushrooms which make of bamboo, wood, soil and thatch. Their design of the houses comes from the mushroom in the field. Their mushroom houses keep the house warm even in the cold winter , but keep cool in the hot summer. Don't you think Hani is really a very wise nation?
There is one branch of Hani called "Yeche "( living in Yunnan), Yeche females always dress in shores and wear a special cap .
