The population of Ewenki nationality is about twenty-six thousand persons, most of them live in Nei Mongol, Heilongjiang province. They have their own language, at the same time , Ewenki who live in the pastoral area use Mongol language and who live in agricultural area or mountain area use Han language.
Ewenki believe in Shamanism and Ewenki who live in pastoral area believe in Buddhism at the same time.
Ewenki are always engaged in agriculture, hunting and animal husbandry.
Ewenki respect fire as their god, no one would push anything like knife
toward fire or throw dirty thing to fire even pour water to fire is taboo. Every
year on Dec. 23th, Ewenki living in pastoral area would offer sacrifices to their
god of fire.
