The population of Dong nationality is about 2.5 million persons, most of them live in Guizhou, Hunan and Guangxi province. They have their own language, at the same time , most of them know Han language .
Dong believe in Multi-Gods and the Primitive Religion which
worships nature.
Most Dong are engaged in cultivating paddy, some of them work for fishery and forestry.
The regions Dong live are always called " the hometown of poetry , the sea of songs" because Dong people love songs and poetry very much.
Dong is a nationality which is good at architecture, there are kinds of "drum-towers" and "Wind and rain bridges"( also named "flower bridge") everywhere in the Dong villages.
Other famous articles with traditional Dong national features are Dong brocade, Dong cloth, embroidery and silverware.
Dong always serve their guests with a special tea called "oil tea". They themselves love this tea and drink it twice a day. You have to finish at least three bowl of oil tea or they think you don't respect the host.
In lunar Feb. and Aug., there is a festival called " Bullfight Festival" , the whole Dong nationality love bull fighting.
