Subpoints: Changes in Perspective and Appreciation of Your Essential Self
You must learn to live a life true to yourself--be an independent thinker. Often this comes with time and maturity (if you are younger you can get a head start if you are superconscious of this). But you must strive to find your own "truth". One of the fastest ways to get spiritually off-track is to let others make decisions for you and dictate how you should live. Eventhough we as individuals in society are still swayed by outside forces, we must try to be as independent thinking and acting as possible. Be skeptical about everything and experiment with your life and environment. Don't follow others, be your own unique leader. This is essential if ever want to unearth your spiritual self and develop your psychic muscle. So slow down outside forces (whether they intend it or not) from making you doubt or disregard your inner god-given voice and abilities. (Note: "outside forces" include: family, friends, government, and established religion.)

You must learn to trust yourself and begin to work on a deeper level of instinct.
You can no longer take things at face value. Psychics always function on a multitude of levels. They utilize many forms of logic and deductive reasoning. They tap information from many mental and spiritual resources. (This, I believe is the source of psychic ability other than just a physical/genetic predisposition.) For example: A psychically developed individual arrives in a new environment or meets a new person. They judge a place, person or situation on many levels. They will consider (very quickly with practice) not only what they know through technical life experience but they will watch for other thoughts and emotions present and assess them consciously. You see, one must use all levels of the human mind and spirit mind on a daily basis. Though some of this is done without realizing, to become more intuitive and psychic you must consciously become aquainted with your core self. You must trust your judgement and honour the process. You must use all types of logic to tap into all kinds of information from the everyday to the more extraordinary. You can re-train your mind to widen it's search for information. Our brains are very much like computers. Our brain is the hardware to our spirits the software. At first your mind might rally against you. Afterall, it might be accustomed to using only a narrow set of tools. It may be very difficult at first and you will often at the beginning have to stop yourself in a given moment and ask yourself questions. The questions themselves can be anything but these varied questions will program your brain to consider other alternatives, possibilities and options. In effect, you are opening windows and doors in your mind to let the light in! You must wake up your mind and stop the quickly made, automatic decision making cycle. Open up your senses to the world and ask yourself, "What do I really think? What do I honestly feel in my gut and in my mind? What is that little voice saying?---and you must also learn to trust the answers you receive.

You must also try to shed your fears of the "deceased", spirits, ghosts and the        like. Do not believe in superstition. Learn and educate yourself about these           subjects before you judge for yourself. Potentially, a developing psychic ability will encounter "otherworldly" energies. This is almost expected as your view and respect for your universe progresses. You will attract spirits and other types of energies to you. You may sense ghosts, spirits, angels, or "deceased" loved ones more easily. This is a positive thing and should not be feared. While not all spirits are all positive, you are not defenseless against them as it has been suggested. You are a powerful soul yourself and you have many ways to rid of unwanted energies. However, if you are a positive individual who wants to genuinely learn about your soul and the universe you will find you will almost never interest negative spirits. Like energy follows like energy afterall. So generally, remember to talk and begin (or further develop your relationship) with your spirit guides and "deceased" loved ones. Do not fear them, they love you very much and only wish you happiness and success in your life chart. Fear is a huge hurtle for most and this emotion will block much of your spirit from progressing in a multitude of ways. If and when you are able to no longer fear potential contact with energies then you may notice more spiritual things happening in your life. Your psychic-type abilities will be encouraged by a lack of tight emotional restraints. Follow the example of young children-- they do not have emotional blocks or beliefs which quelch their "sight" like adults. However, adults can regress (and in effect "progress") by returning to this previous level. Your task is to work on embracing a basically trusting and open view of the world around you. And like I said above, educating yourself about the supernatural and psychic abilities in general helps.

Truly believe in all possiblities in the world and greater universe. Keep the magic in your life! Modern life can rob us of our magical inner selves and our child-like belief that everything and anything is possible. We become adults and we often become bogged down in being a "grown up" and sometimes our idea of adulthood is harmful to our minds, bodies and our souls. If you are apt to "hum-bug" everything around you then....
