| There are a many common general fears relating to ghosts and spirits. We discuss a few below. | ||||||||||||
| Fear of Being Harmed: Unfortunately, this is an extremely common fear and misconception. The situation is not improved by false reports and outlandish lies people can tell. Although, I do not totally deny the possibility that one may experience being hit or slapped by a supernatural being, I believe this event when it occurs, often has a more benign explanation. The first explanation is empathy or the ability for another person to sense past, or present, emotions and events involving a location and individuals. I have seen cases where people have felt slapped, pushed, kicked etc...let's discuss one for example, One case involved a man, who worked in a bar/pub that used to be owned by the Italian Mob during the 1920's and 30's. The location was believed to be quite haunted, particularly in the basement or wine cellar. This man went downstairs to perform inventory. As he walked through the door, he felt a hit to the back of his knee cap. It stunned him, but did not technically harm him. He did not incure actual damage, yet he had felt the hit like it had been real. He was mystified. When I saw this story on television, assuming this was a truthful telling, it did not seem so much a mystery to me. I think the basement/cellar he was in had a dark past, where men were often intimidated and beaten. This man unknowingly picked up on a past event that he registered physically. Therefore, this was not a conscious being that hit him. It was actually something produced by his own innate ability to sense such things. The second explanation is simply a force field, that when met with, can produce a feeling of being slapped or jolted. Scientists are still working on how these naturally occurring fields interact with us. It is not beyond belief, that perhaps some people are blaming spirits and ghosts for something very different. Fear of Being Possessed: Most of us are aware of the movie The Exorcist. As entertaining as it might be, it is not a factual basis for anything, but rather a total Hollywood mock-up from start to finish. The actual case it was based on, was a lot less interesting and was highly suspect. Please do read articles about it HERE. One of the biggest weapons established religion uses to control it's followers is possession. It is a threat that those who meddle in "witchery" or "the occult" will pay dearly. Truly though, the main purpose of such a thing remains to be, that established religion does not want anyone to seek spiritual truth outside of them. In order to keep followers "in line" with their docturine, a fear had to be created, to combat independent thought and exploration. This is not found in all religions mind you since one exception is Buddism. To further clarify the subject for yourself, perform some independent research on the subject of possession, and you will find no substantial cases. You will find that the concept of possession is an ancient superstition, that was given a boost in the Dark Ages by the Catholic Church, which was at it's strongest political levels at the time. The concept of The Devil is entertwined in this subject. The Devil was a concept also used to control the masses. I myself have never been "possessed" nor known anyone who has been. Again, when someone feels taken over, I see this as either a case of fearful thinking or another case of empathy. Someone who is a natural sensitive, may be able to place themselves emotionally into another energies "space". They may feel possessed, because these thoughts and feelings are not originating from themselves. This can do no actual harm, and it usually ends within a brief time. If a sensitive constantly lives in an environment with negative energies, they may begin to act out of this by saying or doing things they may normally not. This is not possession, it is a long standing exposure to strong energies. Possession can also be explained as hoax or mental illness. Fear of The Invisible: It is better to resolve oneself to the thought that we are always surrounded by spirits and ghosts in our lifetime. As you sit and read this, you are surrounded by higher level energies, like angels, spirit guides, and perhaps lower energies such as ghosts. You are always being observed by The God/Goddess, in the way that they are aware of every thought and action you make. This is not to make you paranoid, but merely aware. The fear of the invisible is common. Admittedly, it is frustrating to not be able to see what surrounds us, so this is understandable. It can be a scary thought when trying to sleep in a darkened room. I believe this fear comes from our need to control and have power. When we cannot see what is around us, we feel invaded and we may see this as an attack on our personal power or privacy. We cannot for certain determine what is specifically around us, or why, so we become nervous and uncomfortable. Fear of Deceased Loved Ones: I have seen people, when discussing their deceased loved ones, show fear that their loved one may return to them in spirit-form. If you have this fear you are not alone. This is extremely common, and illustrates how society really has frightened people about the afterlife and spiritworld. This fear in my view, is quite baseless. If your loved one in life (say your Mother for instance) was loving, caring and kind, why then should you fear her visiting you in spiritform? Do you truly believe that people who were once kind, suddenly turn into evil spirits once they die? I think you'll agree, this is a little silly when put that way. An energy does not completely change after death. Your loved one, therefore, will not be cruel to you if it doesn't fit the character they once were. Your loved one will shed their sadness, illness and other such negative and earthly things. >>>>> |
