Beauty of a Woman

The beauty of a woman Is not in The clothes she wears
The figure she carries, Or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman Must be seen from her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,The place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman Is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman Is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, The passion that she shows,
The beauty of a woman With passing years - only grows.

Mothers

I loved you enough...to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home..
I loved you enough...to insist that you save your money and buy a bike for yourself even though we could afford to buy one for you.
I loved you enough...to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep.
I loved you enough...to make you go pay for the bubble gum you had taken and tell the clerk, "I stole this yesterday and want to pay for it."
I loved you enough...to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15 minutes.
I loved you enough...to let you see anger, disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect.
I loved you enough...to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.
But most of all, I loved you enough...to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it.

Mean Moms

Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too. And someday when your children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them....Was your Mom mean? I know mine was. We had the meanest mother in the whole world!

While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast.
When others had Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches. and you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too.

Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we convicts in a prison. She had to know who our friends were, and what we were doing with them. She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.

We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labour Laws by making us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the trash and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.

She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds. Then, life was really tough!
Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the door so she could meet them. While everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16. Because of our mother we missed out on a lots of things other kids experienced. None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's property or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault.

Now that we have left home, we are all educated, honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was. I think that is what's wrong with the world today. It just doesn't have enough mean moms.

Beautiful women

A little boy asked his mother; "Why are you crying?"
"Because I'm a woman", she told him.
"I don't understand", he said.
His mum just hugged him and said, "And you never will"...
Later the little boy asked his father; "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?"
"All women cry for no reason", was all his dad could say...
The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.
Finally he put in a call to God, and when God got on the phone, the man said; "God, why do women cry so easily?"
God said: "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world; yet, gentle enough to give comfort..."
"I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children..."
"I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining... "
"I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly..." "I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart..."
"I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly..."
"And finally, I gave her a tear to shed... This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed."
"You see: The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides

Sanity Please!!

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my sanity to keep.
For if some peace I do not find,
I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.

I pray I find a little quiet
Far from the daily family riot

May I lie back--not have to think
about what they're stuffing down the sink,
or who they're with, or where they're at and what they're doing to the cat.

I pray for time all to myself
(did something just fall off a shelf?)
To cuddle in my nice, soft bed
(Oh no, another goldfish--dead!)
Some silent moments for goodness sake (Did I just hear a window break?)
And that I need not cook or clean-- (well heck, I've got the right to dream)

Yes, now I lay me down to sleep, I pray my wits about me keep,
But as I look around I know-- I must have lost them long ago!

Poems for mothers about Mothers

Mother's Day
mushy gushy poem

Mother loves me, this I know.
For she often tells me so.
With a warm and gentle smile,
Mother loves me all the while.
Yes, Mother loves me.
Yes, Mother loves me.
Yes, Mother loves me.
And how I love her too.
(to the tune of Jesus loves me)

Thanks, thanks, thank you Mom.
Thanks for loving me.
Hugs and kisses, hugs and kisses.
Come to you from me!

I love my mother, I do, I do.
I love my mother, I do, I do.
I love my mother, I do, I do!
and I'm sure she loves me too!

A MOM IS LIKE A FLOWER

A mom is like a flower
On a sunny summer day.
You'd pick her in a minute
If you could have your way.
A mom is like the sunshine;
She warms your heart each day
And makes you feel like smiling,
It's just her specisl way
Of saying that she loves you
The way that mothers do.
A mom is very special-
That's why you love her, too!

I am your little flower, Mom
Please help me grow and bloom;
Take the weeds, but leave the roots
And give me lots of room.

Mom, you are my gardener;
My sunshine and my rain.
Too much will make me wither
With enough, I'll bloom again.

I am your little flower, Mom
I'm different from the rest;
Dont pick me Mom, just help me grow
To be my very best.

Written by: Rebecca Armstrong

I planted some seeds in hopes that they'd grow.
Something went wrong, I just don't know!
Instead of some flowers, its a cupful of dirt.
I love you! I hope your feelings aren't hurt.

Happy Mother's Day

Use this one with handprint in paint or plaster:

Here my handprints are done
For everyone to view.
I had so much fun
Doing them for you.

So look upon this handprint plaque
Hanging on your wall;
And memories will come back
Of me when I was small.

Hand Print poem

Here are my handprints
So tiny and small
The ones that clasped your hands Mommy and Daddy
The ones on the wall.

Press them in your memories Mommy and Daddy,
Press them in your heart
Never let go of me Mommy and Daddy,
Never let us part.

Right now they're good for touching
And crawling on the floors
Hold them tightly in your hands Mommy and Daddy
They fit so perfectly in yours.

Soon I'll be big like you,
Our hands will be the same
But you will always be my Mommy
And I will always proudly carry your name.

Mommy I love you for all that you do,
I'll Kiss you and hug you, cause you love me too.
You feed me and need me to teach you to play.
So SMILE cause I love you this MOTHER'S DAY

"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell

"MOTHER,"

A word that means the world to me.

Howard Johnson (c. 1915)

Somebody said.....

Somebody said a mother is an unskilled laborer...somebody never gave a squirmy infant a bath.

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby...somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, normal is history.

Somebody said a mother's job consists of wiping noses and changing diapers...somebody doesn't know that a child is much more than the shell they live in.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct...somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring...somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said teachers, psychologists and pediatricians know more about children than their mothers...somebody hasn't invested her heart in another human being.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out"...somebody thinks a child is like a bag of plaster of Paris that comes with directions, a mold and a guarantee.

Somebody said being a mother is what you do in your spare time...somebody doesn't know that when you're a mother, you're a mother ALL the time.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices...somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child wind up and hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother...somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math.

Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first...somebody doesn't have five children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books...somebody never had a child stuff beans up thier nose.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery...somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten.

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back...somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married...somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home...somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said being a mother is a side dish on the plate of life...somebody doesn't know what fills you up.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her...somebody isn't a mother!
