2/2/06   Playing in the Snow

We all ventured outside today to play in the snow.  Of course Jake was scared and pretty much hated it.  Mitchell didn't like it that well either.  Aaron wasn't sure at first but decided it wasn't too bad after a little while.

2/6/06   Jake's Dietician Appointment is Scheduled

After filling out a booklet of information and sending it back into Children's Hospital for Jake to see a dietician they called back today to schedule an appointment.  We are taking Jake in on Thursday, February 9.  We have to monitor/journal everything he consumes for three days prior to the appointment so we started this morning.
2/9/06   Jake's Dietician Appointment

During the appointment Jake was bombarded by nurses and other professionals.  We initially met with a nurse who then brought in an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, and a Dietician all at the same time.  They watched him react to different textures as they touched his arms and legs with different objects and then watched him eat to see if there was anything wrong like with his tongue or swallowing.  Everything was fine just as we expected.  After all of that they didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.  They basically just told us to keep up what we are doing and maybe add more butter to things and gave us a few more ideas for high calorie foods.  So we will keep up what we are doing and just hope he (and the others) figure out that food is really good.
2/23/06   Jake's Weight Recheck

We went back into the clinic for a recheck on Jake's weight.  He is still gaining which everyone is happy with.  He is now at 20# 4oz.  We wanted to compare his weight to Aaron and Mitchell's so we asked if we could put Aaron and Mitchell on the scale too.  Aaron weighed just over 24# and Mitchell was just over 19#.  (Aaron and Mitchell's aren't exact because we didn't take their onesies, socks or diapers off but it at least gave us an idea of their weight).  Our next well check is their 2 year checkup in June.

3/16/06   Words they know at 21 months...

AMJ's language has really developed in the past few months.  They understand most of what we say to them and can respond to us because of that.  Recently we have been asking them to go get a diaper if they needed a change and they have been running to the bathroom cabinet and getting their own and the box of wipes.  Jake especially likes to help out.  They will get their diaper from the bathroom and run back to the living room and lie down on the floor and give the diaper to us.

They also have learned to say quite a few words and know what they mean.
     * Mommy                                       * No-No (Aaron't fav after he has done something wrong)
     * Daddy                                          * Bird
     * More (sounds like ma-ma)              * Snow (sounds like No)
     * Apple (Mitchell is really clear)         * Uh-oh
     * Tractor                                         * Baby
     * Puppy                                           * Jacket
     * Shoes                                           * Up
     * Socks                                           * Open
     * Shirt                                             * Poop (while grabbing their butt)
     * Hello/Hi (while holding hand to ear)  * Bye-Bye

Their signing has also improved in some areas.  They can sign the following words:
     * More                   * Milk
     * Please                  * Baby
     * Bird                     * Sleep
     * Eat                      * Car
     * Ball                      * Flower
     * Help                     *Cookie

AMJ also love to wave hi and bye.
