In the near future, all know civilization is taken over by two forces. One of these forces like to call themselves the Craven Cooperation. This force is powered by massive armies of marines, foot soldiers, teridines (kinda like tanks), aerodynes (your basic aircraft), and scouts. You are this force. You control the Craven cooperation in an effort to bring peace to all know civilization. But no good game, or any story for that matter, is any good without villains, right? The other force whom you have to crush are known as the Order of the New Dawn, or Dawnies for short. (Where Sierra comes up with names like these, I don't know.) The Order's great offense? Well, they're trying to rule the galaxy (go figure), and they have rewritten the Bible! That's right folks, they have rewritten the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and have turned it into some new-aged cultic manual. This evil band has pretty much the same forces as you do, and they really are your match. So you command your forces as you desperately try to crush out the Order's grip on all know civilization.
For a RTS (real time strategy), this one is pretty good. The game is all beautifully rendered in 3D (isn't everything these days?), and it contains a easy-to-use camera system. You can view the battle in the same way you would view it in Age of Empires of Starcraft, bird's eye, and from there you can zoom in, until you are so close to your men that you can see the ammunition flying out of their guns, first person. When I first played this game, I was very skeptical. I thought that when I zoomed in closer to my men, everything would become grainy (after all this is a RTS!). Not the case! The detail level is so high, that I viewed every battle through the maximum zoom level. Another nice feature is the fact that you can lock your camera onto one of your troops and follow it wherever it goes. The sound was pretty good, even though there wasn't much in the way of a soundtrack. (If you like sound, play Deus Ex!) There was very minimal blood. As far as violence goes, the most you will see, would be a Teradyne blow up (which is pretty spectacular) or one of your men die. The only possibly offensive aspects of Ground Control for a Christian might be the villains and a little bad language. The instances of foul language are very few and far between. The words used are extremly minor, language-wise, I would rate Ground Control in the same place as ANTZ.The other aspect might be the villans The Order of the New Dawn, rewrote the Bible, which is clearly forbidden in Scripture. In Revelation it says that whoever changes or alters God's Word, will be punished. But again, isn't that why we are fighting this guys in the first place??
