Gazing Through the Window

This is a poem written by me this year as my end-of-year "faith story" assignment for my Confirmation class. We were told to write a poem, song, or essay explaining who God is to us, how He feels about us, etc. Here is my faith story, Gazing Through the Window.

Gazing through the window
By Stephanie

Gazing through the window
Viewing grand creation,
Thoughtful meditation
Flowing through my mind

Holy, most divine one
Maker of all before my eye
Love, through Him defined
To Him all praises sing

Pure, eternal Son
Giver of life to all
In sinful time, to Him we called
His sinless blood, the answer

Guiding, peaceful Spirit
Shows the way of love
Holy, precious dove
Soars across my soul

Gazing through the window
The sun begins to rise
Thinking of Gods eyes
In them, I am beloved.

All I own, all I am
All because of the Lord
Most holy, most adored
He is always there.

Love without restriction
For me, even in sin
His reign will never end
And I am on my knees

My life, never the same
For I am in his heart
From me, hell never part
And I belong to him.

Gazing through the window
The sky begins to tremble
New images assemble
I see a different world

The world where grief flows freely,
The world of deepest pain;
Standing in the rain,
A mom and child weep.

Deep, melodic voice:
Keep passing on my light
And then, I feel delight,
For they have found a solace.

The cold rain has not ceased,
But now theyre filled with Him.
And as I gaze at them...
They look to me, and smile.

Gazing through the window
The church stands on a hill.
They come, by their own will
To praise, and learn, within.

And I see myself there,
I follow along behind.
Once within, I unwind;
I am in His house.

I learn his teachings, learn his ways
And also praise His name
And others do the same,
And we all stand together.

We come into the world, renewed
To spread the light again
We find those lost in the rain,
And to them we spread the wisdom.

Gazing through the window
Theres yet more to behold.
Another world unfolds,
Engulfs the dark and rain

The light has broken free of hate,
Weve spread across the line
Pure love now shines,
And we rejoice

I see my self, standing there
Gods people standing near
My image, with cheer,
Shouts for naught but joy

My tears fall for my true world,
For all of its treacherous trials,
And so many denials
Of His most precious love

Gazing through the window
My likeness taps the glass,
And all my woes I surpass
For there is much to do.

Opening the window
Light flashes through the sky
I look - I jump...I fly.
And He is there.
