Been restoring this old family photo from Christ Cousin Raymond Fontenot of Mowata.
This house stood 2 miles south of Richard Catholic Church.

Matte ancestral village, Sainte-Genevieve-en-Bray, near Rouen, France. Grand'mere's ancestor Nicolas Matte was baptized here on 4 December 1639. He emigrated to Canada before 1666.

Cleveland Charles Matt (C.C.), the brother of Father Wilson Matt and son of Uncle A.C., joined the Royal Air Force volunteer reserve as a pilot officer of the 245th Squadron (Rhodesian) before Pearl Harbor. He was shot down over Dover at age 28. He is buried in the RAF section of Brookwood Cemetery in Sussex, England. (Here is Alice Winn at his grave.)

The Acadians were deported suddenly from Grand Pre in 1755. The spot is now a Canadian National Park in their memory.

Cape Blomidon, sacred to the Micmac Indians, lies on the Bay of Fundy. This landmark was the Acadians' last sight of home as they were deported in 1755.
