I decided that after thoroughly embarrassing myself the only sensible thing to do was to hit the town with my girls. 'My girls' included Paulette, and the twins; Mia and Tia. The whole evening out was Paulette's idea. I always found it interesting that even though she was happily married -no kids though- she could still party like she was in high school. She was even older than the rest of us at twenty-five followed by me at twenty-three and the youngest were the twins at twenty-two. They dragged me to some new club called 'Dream'. I hadn't realized it was a real place, I thought it was just some place made up for that Cam'ron video. I felt like a complete idiot when they told me they were taking me there. We strolled by the bar and got our drinks then got a booth and were sitting in it taking the whole scene in. "And then Nick said..." I started. "There she goes again," Mia whispered to Paulette. "What?" I asked. "You've been talking about Nick all night. I thought Kevin was your favorite," Paulette said. "I know right, he seemed like a nice guy and all. . . . that doesn't mean I want to hear you talk about him all night long," Mia said. "I haven't been talking about Nick 'all night long'," I said. "Child bang, you would think you were in love with him or something. . . the way you carry on," Tia said. "I am not in love with Nick Carter!" I exclaimed. Then, "I was only telling ya'll what it's been like working for them." "Then regale us with tales about Kevin or AJ. . . at this point I'll even take a Brian and Tyke story," Paulette said. "Brian and Tyke story? Please, that is sooooo 1999," Tia said. Causing all of us to erupt into laughter. Before the girls and I hit the town they came to the show and afterwards they met me backstage. I introduced them to some of the dancers, crew, Cookie and Zeke. Zeke of course, made a fuss over the twins, which is completely understandable. Mia and Tia are both very beautiful at about 5'5, tanned olive skin tones, big brown eyes typically hidden behind either green or violet contacts, the only thing they have different about them. Their long black hair that hung well past their shoulders, was piled atop their heads and their bow shaped mouths were a deep shade of wine to compliment their matching tops. It was rare that they dressed alike and tonight was no different. While they wore matching tops, Tia wore black pants with wine colored sparkles throughout the fabric and Mia wore a black mini skirt and calf boots. Surprisingly, Mia and Tia seemed flattered by Zeke's overt attention while, Paulette and I were nauseated. Now Paulette was just as attractive as the twins. She was considered long and lean., standing at about 5'9. She was a deep warm chocolate shade, with bedroom eyes and a sultry smile. Her hair was cut in a funky short do. She was considered the wild one of the group. We always joked, it was a good thing her husband had snatched her up off the streets so she couldn't wreak too much havoc anymore. Tonight she was wearing a very cute pants suit, sans the matching jacket, with slits outlined in rhinestones going up each leg of her pants and ending at mid thigh. Her top was silvery sequins and sleeveless. I was wearing red pants with black roses going up the front of the legs and a black camisole under a sheer black tunic. Once the Boys were relatively presentable the girls met them as well. Kevin was his usual charismatic self. AJ was cool and charming, Brian was funny and Howie was sweet, Nick was the surprise, for me anyway. Nick was slightly shy but otherwise polite and even cute. I was stunned. Nick was very sweet to them. I couldn't help but wonder, How come they got 'good Nick' and I get 'evil Nick'? "Oh God, there's Nick," I said. "Heaven help her, she's starting to see things. Alexis are you ok, girl?" Tia said laying her hand on my forehead. "I'm fine and I am not seeing things. He's standing right over there.... at the bar," I said brushing Tia's hand away. Just as the other girls turned Nick looked away. "You mean the tall blonde standing at the bar..... the one with his back to us.... who for all we know could be any tall blonde male on the face of this planet?" Paulette asked. "No! I saw his face and that's Nick. Just wait till he turns around. you'll see," I assured them shooting Paulette a pointed look. We all stared in his direction in silence just waiting for him to turn around. Almost as if he could feel our eyes on him, Nick turned in our direction and looked directly at me, or so it seemed. "Oh it is him," one of the twins said. Then, "Let's invite him over." "No! He's made my day hell. I'm not going to invite him to do the same with my evening." I said. "You may not have to invite him. I think he's coming this way," Paulette replied. I looked up and he was a good ten feet away but getting closer. "Hey, I didn't expect to see you here," he said. Zeke and two of the dancers were with him. "Likewise," I replied. Apparently, Zeke saw us first and decided they should come over. "Would ya'll like to join us in the VIP section?" Nick asked. Before I could answer him Tia and Mia chimed in simultaneously, "We'd love to!" "Thank you so much for asking," Paulette replied. "I'm just glad ya'll said 'yes' I can't be in the VIP with a bunch of dudes," Zeke said. "Believe me when I tell you, Zeke we didn't agree to join ya'll for your sake," I said. He gave me a broad wolf's grin as he took Mia and Tia's hands and began escorting them toward the VIP section. Nick informed us that Howie and AJ would be coming later with a possible appearance by Kevin . Brian was on the phone with Leighanne and Baylee when Nick asked if he were coming so he wasn't too sure whether it was a 'no' or a 'yes'. I'd put money on it being a 'no'. The Boys' manager was a friend of the owner of the club. As a favor to him he asked the Boys to go and hang out there for a little while, you know make an appearance. Celebrities do this type of thing a lot. In fact, I'd been to a lot of clubs because whoever I was working for at the time was making an appearance. In the end everyone gets what they want. Hopefully, the celebrity gets a nice night out and the owner or promoter gets recognition for bringing in the 'important people', making the nightclub the place to be. I was sitting at a table with Paulette, the twins had set themselves up in a booth with Zeke and a few others. Kevin, Howie and AJ had long since arrived. It was safe to say, the party in VIP was in full swing. Paulette and I were discussing how shameless the twins were acting with Zeke. He was an obvious player and the worst kind. A player with no... "game". All we could do was laugh because it was clear that with what little game he did have he was using it hard on the twins. We would eventually rescue them before they did something they would later regret, even though we had every intention of making fun of them. I continued to talk to Paulette when I saw someone coming towards us out of the corner of my eye. "It looks like you're enjoying yourself," he said. It was Nick. "Yeah, I was," I said. I was still kind of mad at him for the whole argument before the show. If I were more truthful with myself I would know that I was upset about the way he acted towards my friends versus the way he treated me on a daily basis. "I was just wondering if you wanted to dance." "You're asking me? Why? You have a whole harem full of willing girls. Why don't you ask them?" "Well, I know that you won't try anything that'll need a bodyguard's assistance, that's why." "Aaaawww is Nicky afraid of being molested on the dance floor by some eager fan?" "No! And don't call me Nicky. You know.... you can just say 'no' if you don't want to dance. I'm trying to 'extend an olive branch' as Kevin would say. I don't need the back talk," he said. "Back talk? Well if that's the way you 'extend your olive branch' maybe you should take your branch and shove-" I said raising my voice a bit. "She'd love to dance," said Paulette out of nowhere. Nick and I both turned to look at her. "What are you doing?" I mouthed. "Go and dance with him," she mouthed back. "I don't want to," I mouthed again. "GO!" she mouthed. "FINE!" I mouthed. I turned to Nick. "Shall we?" "Let's go," he said taking my hand and pulling me up to stand. "Judas," I hissed to Paulette who smiled sweetly at me. Together we headed out onto the dance floor. Now, I'm sure it is pretty well known that Nick can be choreographed but dancing on his own can prove to be a challenge. We hit the dance floor just as Bump, Bump, Bump by B2K started. I rolled my eyes to myself thinking, Of all the songs to come on, NOW! Well when in Rome. I figured I'd make the best of it and at least have some fun. "You do know how to dance, right?" I asked. "Well duh! I do it almost every night," he replied. "No that's not dancing, that's choreography. I mean you know how to move to the music that's playing with another person.. . . without being told how." "Psssshh, yeah!" "Well let's see what you got." Nick started to move and I did too. At first it looked like we were dancing against each other to different songs. I'm pretty sure I was on beat but Nick, sadly, was not. I'm not saying that Nick can't dance, at all. It's just that usually when two people are dancing together they should at least look like they're.... together. One should compliment the other. That's not what was happening with Nick and I. "Thought you said you knew how to dance," I said. "I do... I mean.... I am dancing," he said a little frustrated. I turned away from him and twirked my hips to the Bump Bump Bump! part of the song. I turned back around to face him. "Ok come here, you're making me look bad," I said moving closer to him. I put my hands on his waist and guided him to the beat of the music. Then I stepped away to let him find his own rhythm. "See? You got it. Now watch me," I said. I stepped away from him and danced a bit to the song myself. It was about to end before I came back to him. "Maybe on the next song we can do a bit better." We did. I danced with Nick for awhile. I also danced with Kevin, Howie, AJ, both dancers and even though I tried my best to back out of it... I danced with Zeke as well. It was Paulette who noticed I danced with Nick the most. "Well you did. I saw you out there. Ya'll looked good together too," she said. "Oh please, at first we looked like we were each dancing with other people in different clubs to different songs," I said adjusting my hair in the mirror. We were in the ladies room. "That was at first. Eventually, ya'll got into it. No slow songs?" "I am not dancing a slow song with him. We're not dating. In fact, technically, he's my boss." "Yeah, yeah whatever. He's young and he's cute, so are you. Besides, he's only technically your boss." "Paulette get off it. The only reason I danced with Nick the most is because Kevin and AJ are taken and you know how easily a rumor could start. One minute me and Kevin are just dancing, the next we're grinding and after that I'm breaking up his marriage and someone 'sees' me and Kristin hurling insults at each other in some club in London." "London? Ok, whatever, believe what you want. I still think you and Nick looked nice together." "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. Let's get back out there before they send in a search and rescue team." The evening had come to lull. Everyone's adrenaline from the show was beginning to wear off and people were getting just plain tired. Paulette and I had rescued the twins, who were a little bit tipsy, from Zeke's clutches and decided we'd better get going. I was going around the room saying my goodnights when I got to Nick. "Surprisingly, I had a really good time with you," I started. I could tell he was about to say something but I stopped him. "Sorry, about the way I acted earlier. I was still kind of pissed off about that whole argument before the show. You're pretty cool, Nicky." For a moment I'm sure he was about to say don't call me 'Nicky' or something. I think he suppressed the urge and instead said, "Well, it's alright. Tonight was fun. We should hang out more often," he said. "We'll see," I said and went to find Paulette and the twins. |
