| It is my understanding that VW has dropped the free service requests over the internet. However, you can still request the certificate by snail mail for a nominal fee. I sent them $10 in USD (Cash) which is approximately 20,- DM to the museum in Wolfsburg: Vehicle Identity Certificate STIFTUNG AUTOMUSEUM VOLKSWAGEN Dieselstrabe 35 - 38446 Wolfsburg, Germany I included a short letter, the VIN # and my address. I received mine back in approximately 4 weeks (December 2000). As you can see the certificate includes build date, delivery date, destination of delivery, along with the original color of the paintworkand interior and any factory fitted extras. Pretty neat stuff. It is also my understanding that they may not be able to provide information on very, very early model years due to the condition of the microfiche on file. |
