Let
me start out with what was intended to be a "day trip" to the Twin
Cities for my treatment. The progression of the swelling and pain
in my left arm lead the discussion with my oncologist. We agreed
the current treatment was NOT doing anything. So, the dose of
Irinotecan was canceled and we pursued better PAIN MANAGEMENT.
The first thing is to shrink the tumors in my shoulder with radiation,
which is the best shot available at the moment. Getting set up
for radiation is going to take about a week. I stayed in the Twin
Cities for another day to meet with the radiation oncologist Friday
morning. Karen came home to work Friday morning while I finished my appointment. Best of all, my sister Mary gave me a ride home and is visiting this weekend. I'm on some different pain relievers that work a little better NOW. I also have more appointments this coming week to continue setting up radiation AND get better PAIN MANAGEMENT... In the meantime, I plan to do what I can around here before I head back to the Twin Cities on Tuesday... Who knows what "that" will be with my useless left arm. Most likely, it'll be making many needed phone calls, doing neglected paper work and just playing on this computer... I DON'T plan to update this BLOG until I have more details on my radiation or there is a major development to report. |
