Cancer update... |
A
few days ago my left armpit started hurting again. I'm glad I
still had some pain killers left from a few months ago. I feel
like I'm whimping out a bit by taking them. I'll be seeing my
oncologist on Thursday to determine what treatment we'll use for this
development. My diagnosis of both melanoma and lymphoma
complicates things a bit. It is assumed that what is going on in
my armpit is lymphoma and can be easily treated. I have no idea
regarding what "tests" will be done on Thursday prior to starting
another treatment. I'm hoping it will be a short visit, "Let's try this pill..." It's
such a crap shoot when dealing with cancer (namely melanoma) that the
odds of something working are about 1 in 20 for all the
treatments. I feel lucky that it only took 4 tries to find one
that shrunk 1 tumor 25%... The lymphoma has been on the back
burner until now. Past experience dictates that we confirm my
armpit pain is caused by lymphoma. My concern is whether both of
my cancers can be treated simultaneously without any conflicts... Firewood / Heating News... After a couple hours of splitting the oak and maple logs that have been laying on the ground by the cabin, I'm taking a break here to post this page. My rule of thumb is, an hour of work cutting firewood gives about 8 hours of heat in the wood burner... So, we have a couple more days of wood to keep us warm. But wait! The big news is that the assistance we're waiting for is starting TOMORROW! Jack, from Indianhead Community Services will at the farm at 11:30. I'm not sure what he'll be doing. My hope is that plans for insulation and a furnace will be finalized and the work will start ASAP. It'll be the ultimate Christmas present to have a nice warm house on the farm by Christmas. Dealing with heating bills vs. cutting firewood will be a nice change of pace... |
