DERA F.C

Having spotted an advertisement in Flitwick library, I decided it was time to flaunt my footy skill and talent once and for all - so I joined the local football team that, by the purely random forces of nature, happened to be called Dera Football Club.

They were of course recruiting for new players for the forthcoming season. I promptly contacted my agent and after swift contract negotiations, I was soon snapped up for the season on a Bosman free on Sunday 15th July 2001.

Hitherto, pre-season has went well and we performed solidly in the recent pre-season tournament in Bedford where we pitted ourselves against division II opposition and lost each game narrowly - out-scored but certainly not out-played. We certainly had the hunger and the ability, but fitness levels are the difference between teams in the lower echelons of the football league, and in our case, the lack of it was there for all to see.

Overall, considering our respectable performance in our debut season last year where we finished 8th in a division of fourteen and the influx of players during the summer, we are looking forward to the coming season with great optimism, and aiming for promotion or at least some silverware.

COME ON DERA!!!!!
