In the name of God Amen. I THOMAS LAYCOCK now residing in Sydney in the territory called New South Wales being of sound mind and disposition but weak in bodily health and knowing the instability of human life, do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my wife Mrs. HANNAH LAYCOCK now residing in England or elsewhere and to my six children (namely) Mrs. SARAH BAILEY (wife of Mr. Nicholas Bailey residing in Sydney aforesaid) WILLIAM LAYCOCK, Lieutenant THOMAS LAYCOCK, SAMUEL LAYCOCK, all now of Sydney aforesaid and my daughters REBECCA LAYCOCK and ELIZABETH LAYCOCK (now residing in England) the whole of my live stock and cattle of every description of which I may die possessed to be between them and each of them equally divided share and share alike. I further give devise and bequeath unto my son the said WILLIAM LAYCOCK all that my estate situate in the district of the South Creek in this Territory called and known by the name of Coalic and containing by measurement nine hundred acres. Also I give and bequest unto my son the said THOMAS LAYCOCK my gold watch with the chain and the Seal having my initials T.L. thereon engraved. And I do will and direct that the house with all the fixtures and premises which I now occupy situate in South Street in Sydney aforesaid with all the furniture therein contained shall be sold by public auction the money arising from which sale to be appropriated as follows (that is to say) After payment of all my just debts (if any there may be) funeral charges and other necessary expenses I give and bequeath MARY SARGENT (provided she remains with me at the time of my decease but not otherwise ) the sum of Two hundred pounds sterling as a mark of my particular esteem and a reward for her faithful services. The remainder of the said money (after paying my just debts etc. and the said legacy of Two hundred pounds) if any there may be together with all my personal property and moveables whatsoever and wheresoever of every denomination or kind not already bequeathed in this my last Will and Testament I give and bequeath unto my four children (namely) the said SARAH BAILEY, WILLIAM LAYCOCK, THOMAS LAYCOCK and SAMUEL LAYCOCK to be equally divided between them share and share alike AND I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my good and worthy friends Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Foveaux, Mr. D'Arcy Wentworth and Mr. Thomas Moore to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament. AND I the said Testator Thomas Laycock do hereby publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. IN WITNESS I the said Testator THOMAS LAYCOCK have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal at Sydney aforesaid this fifth day of August in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine. Tompson I the above named Testator THOMAS LAYCOCK Do in addition to my last Will and Testament as above publish and declare this my Codicil thereto in manner following (that is to say) I do further give devise and bequeath unto my wife the abovementioned Mrs. HANNAH LAYCOCK now residing in England as aforesaid All that my estate known by the name of Kings Grove containing by measurement five hundred acres of land which was granted to me in the name of my said wife by His Excellency Governor King And I do confirm the said Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Foveaux the said D'Arcy Wentworth and the said Thomas Moore as Executor hereof And I the said Testator THOMAS LAYCOCK Do publish and declare this to be a Codicil to my last Will and Testament as above.
