Air-recon is limited up to the line Skagen-Paternoster. Random recon-flights into the area

Skagerrak – Kattegat. Random daily recon-flights into the area Shetlands – norway.

 

Seelage Ost

 

11:00 After artillery preparation and reconnaissance (04:20 – 07:30) the Mar.Stoßtrupp-Kp.,

engineers and SS take the Westerplatte.

 

The submarines of O.d.Ost (U14, U18, U22) will be replaced by smaller subs with less

experienced commanders (U56, U58, U59).

 

Seelage West

 

Witdrawal of 10 submarines from the Atlantic area to new locations. 2 boats entrance north

canal, 5 boats St.Georg´s canal and western exit of channel.

 

Auswärtiges Amt reports that the german steamer “Franken” was bombed by british planes

as he entered neutral dutch territory at Padang.

 

U-Jäger 125 reports attack on enemy submarine southwest of Helgoland and possible

destruction. This cannot be confirmed by divers in the evening.

 

U33 sinks the british SS “Olivegrove” (4060t) southwest of Ireland.

U34 sinks the british steamer “Pukkasten” (5809t) west of the Scillies.
