Unrequited

On this day, I offer up these words,

in stead of flowers by the dozen, or the singing of birds.

I give to thee my affection

in return for your wrinkles, sags and imperfections.

In my life, my one true love is thee,

And forever I shall think thee lovely.

You voice, I long to hear every day,

And to see your eyes, which shine, and keep the darkness at bay.

You smile, which no mere mortal can resist,

And your entire being, which would always bring me bliss.

And if my words have failed to impress

That the thought of you leaves my heart a mess;

I shall go on my way, as you should do too,

And have a happy Valentine's with the one that adores you.
