The Many Adventures of Chrestienne de Valenciennes...
Warning! This page is under construction...and I am just learning...
Hello everyone,
Not too long ago when I was first starting at the
University of Lethbridge I saw a group of people hanging about in Medieval clothing, wearing armour, and just generally having a good time. They invited me to join them for feasts and battles and many other exciting things. The group is called  the Society for Creative Anachronism (or SCA).
This is a copy of my device that is in the process of being submitted for approval.
There are a few things to know about the SCA:
- First that you create and take on a persona of a person who might have existed in the Middle Ages, for example you cannot be Queen Elizabeth, but you can be one of her ladies that might of existed at the time.
- We also live in the 'current middle ages' where we have changed the names of our locations to get into the spirit. The known world is broken down into Kingdoms, Principalities, Baronies, Shire and Cantons. Take Calgary, Alberta, for example, is found, in the
Kingdom of An-Tir, in the Principality of Avacal, which is the Barony of Montengarde.
So who am I?
When I first started out in this group I wanted to do everything! And I think I still do, but I am pacing myself alittle better. I started with a name that I liked, without bothering to check if it really existed. So when I decided to get down to working on a documentable persona, I ended up putting Gwenevive the Red in my armour bag, and only pulling her out on the occasions that I like to fight. I have refined my search and now play under the name Chrestienne de Valenciennes, who lives somewhere in France, sometime around the early to mid 1400's. Writting this down it sounds so horibly vague, but I am working on this bit by bit, and one day I will have a long story.
