Okay! This is for all of you people who don't understand what is going on in this anime.  For those of you who do know what it's about you are free to read on as well. Let me just give you some info....All right! Let's begin!! The story starts off with two  Junior High School girls named Miaka Yuuki and Yui Hongou who are best friends. One day both went to the library to return a book that Yui had borrowed. Miaka sees a red light and a "bird" so she follows it up the stairs. She reaches a small room that says "Employees Only" but she is more interested in the book that just fell. Yui follows Miaka and they pick up the book (called the ShiJinTenShiCho meaning the four gods sky and earth) and start to read...

*Important note to all readers whether newbies or know-it-alls* I didn't include every detail because it would've taken up all my time and space. Let me assure you though that I kept within the story line. By the way, the word "Spoiler" for any of you who don't know what it is, means that parts of the story will be given away. Spoilers will be throughout the paragraphs but if you don't care, continue as you will. Spoilers will also be in fanfics, and character profiles and other various activities on my site, so don't say I didn't warn you! This anime was created by the wonderful and awesome Yuu Watase and all my praise goes to her!

Yui reads: (Since she's the only one out of the two of them that can) This is about a girl who obtained the power of Suzaku and made every wish come true.Whoever finishes reading the book will also recieve these powers. The story itself is an incantation. Once the page is turned the story will become the truth and begin...

They are both engulfed in red light and when they awaken, they are in another world. ("Book world" - Konan)
Yui ends up going back but Miaka is stuck there and agrees with the emperor that she will summon Suzaku to be able to return home.
In order to summon Suzaku (which is the god of the southern country Konan) she must find 7 Seishi. (A.k.a "protectors")
So she sets out on her journey...
Yui on the other hand had returned and willed Miaka to return as well. In the process, it brought her back to the "book world" - Kutou. There she faces... her own trials... and decides to summon Seiryuu - therefore making Miaka her enemy. She too must find her 7 Seishi and it is an all out battle as to who will summon their god first - Suzaku no Miko or Seiryuu No Miko... - the fight to the bitter end and lives are lost...

If you want to know more, watch the series - it's soo good! I became attached. The show is good for both males and females because the plot is good and there is enough action to satisfy all. To understand, one must pay very close attention.
