 In
1997, the Choir launched its first CD, "Brass & Voices", which
is a joint-venture between the Chorus Urbanus and the
Thoresby Colliery Brass
Band from Nottinghamshire thereby giving this CD its name. In fact the compact
disc features musical pieces for the choir and others for the band as well
as joint pieces including a live recording of John Galea's PSALMUS CL
which has been world premiered in July 1997 in St. George's Basilica, Victoria,
during a concert the choir gave in conjunction with the Thoresby Band.
The CD
opens with a majestic fanfare "URBANUS FANFARE" written by
Geoffrey Hawley, a member of the Thoresby Band, and dedicated to the choir.
The CD was recorded at St. George's Basilica mainly the PSALMUS CL which was
recorded live on 11th July 1997 and at the Astra Theatre, both in Victoria.
The Soloists
are Soprano Yvonne Galea, Tenor Joseph Aquilina and Bass Noel Galea. Sunny
Galea was the recording engineer, whereas Digital Editing and Mastering was
by David Vella and Howard Keith at Temple Studios. The CD Design and Production
was made by Green Apple Adv. Agency
