| TSUNAMI WORD PAGE ONE By Neville Johnston |
| Tsunamis in the East 31st December 2004 This is a prophetic update and takes the place of our normal studies this week on the secrets of the Kingdom. I am sure that we all are aware of the catastrophic damage and loss of life that the earthquake and following tsunamis caused in my part of the world this Christmas. While we are horrified at the death and destruction caused by these natural phenomena; (the death toll is now predicted to pass the 70,000 mark) we need to ask the question, what does it all mean? The Japanese word "tsunami" means "harbor wave," these waves are normally generated by seismic activity, usually on the ocean floor, as was the case of this recent awe inspiring event. We here in Western Australia felt the affects of these waves as tidal surges began to pound upon our shores causing many boats to break free from their moorings. Although I had no pre-prophetic warning of these events, for weeks prior to this, I was aware that something of great import was about to break, I was aware prophetically that the church was standing where Israel had stood as they came to the end of their wilderness journey and were poised to enter the Promised Land. They had wandered the wilderness for forty years and now had the opportunity to end this wilderness existence, and enter into the fullness of Gods purposes. This earthquake was the largest earthquake in Forty Years The number 40 has great prophetic significance, firstly it signifies a generation. Often in scripture a generation is counted as 40-years. Numbers 32:13 And the LORDS anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed. Joshua 5:6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not show them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey. Forty years ago in 1964 the Church was being alerted to the coming of a new move of God in the earth, this move became known as the charismatic move. In March 27th 1965 an earthquake which to date is the largest recorded in North America, measuring 9.2 on the Richter scale, hit along the Alaskan coast. This quake generated a series of waves measuring 90 feet in height that crashed into the coastline destroying countless boats and homes. A short time after this event, countless numbers of small rural churches throughout the region were consumed by an out-pouring of Gods fire in their midst. This outpouring of the Holy Spirit quickly rolled through Oregon and into California, finally resting upon an Episcopal Church in Van Nuys, lighting a fire upon an Episcopal rector named Dennis Bennett. Contemporary church history now shows that Bennett gave birth to what became known as the charismatic renewal. This move of God swept the western world like a great fire giving birth to the Jesus movement and many other great waves of the Holy Spirit. The Number Forty also signifies the end of a testing period. Moses was forty years in the wilderness before he was commissioned to take the people of Israel into the Promised Land. Israel was forty years in the wilderness before they entered the Promised Land. Jesus was forty days in the wilderness before he began His ministry. This speaks of a time of preparation and testing, which now is coming to and end as a new age dawns upon us. |
