| This law applies to the individual, and it also applies to Nations. Not only are individuals accountable to God, but Nations also have to give an account. In the 1950s Cuba experienced a wonderful outpouring of the Holy Spirit under the ministry of T.L. Osborne. The whole island was aflame with the Glory and power of God; hundreds of people were healed as creative miracles became the order of the day. Many thousands repented of their sins and were born into the Kingdom of God. However, the nominal church in Cuba issued a written statement declaring that this work was not of God, and stating that it was a was a work of the devil. Within a very short time the whole nation was given into the hands of communism. God's Sprit had been rejected and the Nation was given up to the demonic rule of communism. When truth is rejected we are in great danger of being handed over to the counterfeit of truth, believing a lie. In Mark Chapter 8, there is a very interesting account of a whole town being banned from receiving the truth. Mark 8:22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. 24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. 26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town. Why did Jesus take this man out of the town in order to heal him? And why was the man told not to return to the town nor tell anyone in this town what had happened? As we look at this situation, we find that this blind man was symptomatic of the people in this town, they were blind spiritually. What had brought about this condition in this town of Bethsaida? During the early ministry of Jesus this town of Bethsaida had experienced a great move of God under the His ministry, they also had rejected this ministry of Jesus. Matthew 11:21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. Jesus had a mighty revival in Bethsaida early in His ministry but the people there rejected it. Later when Jesus returned to this town, the inhabitants of the town were now spiritual blind and given over to a lie to such a degree, that Jesus had to take the man out of the town before he could heal him. Just as Cuba, which was given over to spiritual blindness because they rejecting the truth. |
