TSUNAMI UPDATE PART TWO PAGE 1
Tsunamis in the East part 2 - Sowing and Reaping 7th January 2005
During times of great natural disasters, the question is always asked by many, "Why would God allow this?" If God is all knowing and all powerful, why did He not stop this disaster?
Many innocent children died, why?
First, we need to understand that God is good, He is incapable of evil.
Secondly, God is love and everything He does is out of the motivation of love.
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Thirdly, the thing we need to understand is the law of Sowing and Reaping.
God gave all of mankind the wonderful gift of free will; we are not compelled to serve God or obey Him, however there are consequences that arise from our actions.
God, in His Word, constantly warns us about the consequences of disobeying Him.
He also speaks of the wonderful blessings that are the result of obedience to Him.
Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
The following thirteen verses innumerate the blessing of obedience
However, if we do not listen:
Deuteronomy 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
From verse 16 to 68 are listed the curses for disobedience.
These curses or judgments are not so much an act of God, but are the consequences of reaping what we have sown.
The law of sowing and reaping is an unerring law, it is no respecter of persons, and it applies to the whole of mankind. What goes around comes around.
If you want to be loved you must first give love. 1John 4:12
If you want mercy you must first show mercy. Matthew 5:7
If you want forgiveness you must forgive. Matthew 6:14
