Larry Goes Looking For Love (In
Several Wrong Places)
After seemingly winning the heart of Eve from the
penthouse in Lost Wages, Larry Laffer stupidly believes that the
brief wonderful moments they shared together actually meant deep
love. Therefore, he goes through the trouble of moving his belongings
into her home in Los Angeles, even without her prior permission.
Eve does return home to see Larry mowing her lawn. Her reaction
to Larry's presence is, naturally, not delightful. She immediately
orders him to leave in five minutes after getting all of his things.
Larry is basically wandering the streets again.
Meanwhile, on a Pacific island called Nontoonyt Island, an evil
scientist named Dr. Nonookee, whose connections include the KGB,
prepares to continue an immense and diabolic scheme. Whatever
the plan is, he's in the process of getting some valuable top
secret information necessary to carry it out. In order to do that,
a secret exchange of the information must be made. He contacts
one of his agents to signal her to be ready for another agent
who would pick it up. Dr. Nonookee is glad that everything seems
to be going according to plan.
Larry explores L.A. and appears on a dating show,
in which he surprisingly wins, and his prize is a cruise with
the bachelorette. Soon after, he goes on a lottery show and wins
one million dollars. Before embarking on his cruise, he buys some
things from several places. He even visits a new music store,
in which he tries to flirt with the female Latin American clerk
there. She actually mistakes Larry for a secret agent and gives
him a musical instrument. an onklunk, containing a microfiche
with sensitive information. Of course, Larry has no knowledge
of it since she was speaking to him in Spanish.
The Latin American woman, who really works for Dr. Nonookee, realizes
her error when the real agent, a Leisure Suit Larry look-alike,
walks into the music store. In order to avoid the wrath of Dr.
Nonookee, they both agree to send out numerous KGB agents to hunt
down Larry and the onklunk. Larry Laffer is now a target and has
to constantly escape any trick that the KGB might have. Even if
he's wary, he is on a quest to find the perfect hairstyle since
his hairline is receding significantly. Unfortunately, every barber
shop, which all look identical, has a barber who gives him a weird
hairdo.
Larry now appears to want to settle down with his life by having
just one woman and one perfect haircut. Larry eventually makes
his way to Nontoonyt Island, where he meets a lovely native girl
named Kalalau. According to her father, Chief Keneewauwau, Larry
must defeat the evil Dr. Nonookee in his headquarters on the island
and save it if he wants to marry her. With a wonderful woman like
her, Larry soon feels brave enough to face the evil scientist.
The rewards, to him, are definitely worth his effort.
