Kathmandu to Besisahar |

The trail head is a bumpy 7 hour bus ride from Kathmandu. The bus doubles as a furniture delivery service. |
|

Day 1 - Besisahar 740m to Bahundanda 1310m |
|

|
|
|
The trail begins in the lush terraced valleys of Besisahar. Down here it is hot - shorts and sweaty t-shirts. |

There are no roads going to any of the villages up the valley. The only way to transport goods is either by donkey or by Porter. The Porters are truly remarkable. These tiny Nepalese men and boys can carry loads up to 100 kilos! Check out the footwear on this guy - they all wear the flimsiest of flip flops. |

Chortens are Buddhist prayer receptacles. This excellent example is over 500 years old. The rectangular base represents the Earth. The spherical portion represents water. And the 13 rings on top symbolize the steps to enlightenment. |
