"Aunt Mary (Trudelle Emerson)'s White House. View of the White House and the 'Big Elm Tree' (right). Shown here are the Back Screen Porch of the House where the family ate during the summer (it protrudes from the back of the House); back of this is the Wood Shed (partly visible); far back is an electric light pole (protruding above the roof of the Wood Shed); also visible is aunt Mary's 1937 Plymouth and the dirt Driveway (the garage is east of the picture in the far right). To the far left (not visible) is Rural Route No. 5 ascending a hill to the north. The two nearest front windows of the House look out from the Piano Room. Directly above was Aunt Mary's bedroom; the Fire rope was hung out that window."

[Notes are by Mary Trudelle Emerson's son John. He may have referred to her as Aunt Mary because she was in her forties when he and his three brothers were born and had many nieces and nephews by then.]
