| From the Independent Record, Sunday, April 26, 1981: Martha V. Deborde Martha V. Deborde, 85, of Western Care nursing home and formerly of 1433 Cannon, died Thursday evening after a short illness. Mrs. Deborde, who had lived in the Helena area since 1945, was born March 31, 1896, in Charter Oak, Iowa, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Squibb. The family moved to Lewiston, Idaho, where Mrs. Deborde graduated from the Lewiston Normal College. She taught in numerous small communities throughout Idaho before Marrying Leon D. Deborde in Graingeville, Idaho on June 1, 1926. The couple farmed near Troy before moving to East Helena in 1945. Mrs. Deborde worked at the Rocky Mountain Dinner club, and was secretary-treasurer for the 25-Year Club. Her husband preceded her in death in 1959. Survivors include the following nieces and nephews: Betty J. Shaddock of Riggins, Idaho; Robert E. Smith of Pasco, Wash.; William R. Smith of Kaniah, Idaho; Margaret L. Congleton of Kennewick, Wash.; Donna M. Rice of Vancouver, Wash.; Herbert Powell of Lewiston, Idaho; Lloyd Powell of Graingeville, Idaho; Margerie Cook of Lompoc, Calif.; Verna Sarony of Syracuse, N.Y., and Wilma Baldwin of Portland, Ore. Chapel services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hagler Chapel with the Rev. George Harper of St. Paul's Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ike and Tom Lanning, Tom Jones, Chuck Larson, Howard Morgan and Ray Morrison. OBITUARIES HOME |
